According to a media report regarding Jio, some selected My Jio app users have got UPI payment support. The company seems to be gearing up to compete with Google Pay and WhatsApp, which have made their place in the market with this UPI feature. The report states that the company has rolled out the UPI payment option in the MyJio app and is currently available only to users who have a Virtual Payment Address (VPA) with the @Jio UPI handle.

Recently there was news that Jio is talking to Axis Bank, ICICI Bank and SBI Bank to provide UPI payment facility on its platform. Entrackr’s report claims that some select users are seeing the option of UPI payment in the MyJio app.

The UPI option inside the app is seen in the screenshot shared by the website. Apart from this option, other services of Jio like JioSaavn, JioCinema and JioEngage are also seen in the app.

The report further states that users will get a VPA with @Jio UPI handle upon registration. Looking at the screenshot, it can be seen that there is also an option to enter the bank account number to link this UPI ID with the bank in the app. In this, to get UPI PIN, information like mobile number, debit card number etc. linked to their bank account has also been asked from the users.

The process is quite similar to other UPI payment apps like Google Pay, Paytm and WhatsApp. Tech News by Careers Ready does not confirm this news and Jio has also been contacted regarding this news, but till now no information has been given by the company.
