Due to many vulnerabilities present in Google Chrome browser, the Indian government has warned users of being vulnerable to cyber attacks. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has advised users to update the Chrome browser to avoid targeted attacks. It is said that a hacker can gain access to the system by using arbitrary code. Earlier this month, Google fixed the vulnerability in Chrome 98. CERT-In has placed the seriousness of this matter in ‘high’ category.

Own advisory CERT-In has written that many vulnerabilities have been reported in Google Chrome. This could allow an attacker to send arbitrary code to a targeted system. The agency has said that Google Chrome versions before 98.0.4758.80 are affected by these vulnerabilities.

The advisory states that these vulnerabilities exist in Google Chrome due to free use of Safe Browsing, Reader Mode, Web Search, Thumbnail Tab, Strip, Screen Capture, Window Dialog, Payments, Extensions and Accessibility. Earlier this month, Google announced the release of Chrome 98 for Windows, macOS and Linux users. the company has Said The update includes a total of 27 security fixes.

In the last release, Google said that access to bug details and links may be restricted until most users update the Chrome browser on their systems.

Google Chrome gets automatic updates in the background. However, users can manually download the update by going to Chrome and then About Google Chrome. Once the update is downloaded, the browser will have to be relaunched. Only after this the latest version will be completely installed.

Google’s concerns do not end here. Last month, news came that the company’s CEO Sundar Pichai could be interrogated in a case. This decision was given by a federal judge of California, USA. The plaintiff had alleged that his internet usage was illegally tracked by Google in ‘Incognito’ browsing mode. The user has accused Google in a lawsuit filed in June 2020. Said that Google tracked his internet usage and illegally invaded his privacy. All this happened when the user had set the Google Chrome browser in private mode.
