Glimpse of dark mode in Android beta version of WhatsApp

Facebook-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp has updated its Android beta app to the new version 2.19.82. The tear down of the app indicates that the company is preparing to provide Dark Mode feature in its WhatsApp app. Leaks related to the dark mode of WhatsApp have also surfaced earlier. But now with this latest update, the first look of dark mode has also been revealed which is indicating that this feature can be launched soon.

Recently released beta versions were also indicating that WhatsApp is also working to provide a new forwarding feature in its app. At present, the company has not provided information regarding when WhatsApp Dark Mode will be released in the stable version. whatsapp beta tracker WABetaInfo has spotted the dark mode feature in the version 2.19.82 beta update. Some screenshots related to this have also been published.

The tipster notices that WhatsApp has added the dark mode only in Settings. Looking at the screenshot, it shows that this new mode is applied in notification settings, data and storage settings, chat settings and account settings. The tipster also notices that the dark mode on Android will not be OLED friendly but is based on a dark gray color.

This feature is not yet enabled by default, which means even if you update to the latest version 2.19.82, you will not see this feature.
