Find the shortcomings in Aarogya Setu app, government will give Rs 1 lakh

After many experts raised questions on privacy regarding Aarogya Setu, NITI Aayog has made the code of Aarogya Setu app open source. The new move comes 41 days after the app was launched in April. Remind that this contact tracing app has crossed the figure of 10 crore registered users. NITI Aayog has released the source code of the Android version of Aarogya Setu, which is said to be used by 98 percent of its total users. NITI Aayog has also said that they will open the source code of the iOS and KaiOS versions of the Aarogya Setu app at a later stage.

Currently, the Aarogya Setu app has 11.50 crore registered users across all supported platforms. Security experts have already expressed their concerns over the privacy of users in this app and also urged the government to open the code of the Aarogya Setu app last month. NITI Aayog is also ready to release all subsequent updates of the app through its repository on GitHub.

In addition to open sourcing the code, the government has launched a bug bounty program, which will be hosted by the MyGov team. This program will help security researchers to get a reward of Rs 1 lakh. In this, the person who finds security vulnerabilities or shortcomings in the app will get a reward of Rs 1 lakh. Apart from this, an additional reward of Rs 1 lakh will also be given for improving the code.
