Facebook Messenger Rooms shortcut may soon come to WhatsApp

There is news of the integration of Facebook Messenger Rooms being tested on the beta version of WhatsApp Android app. This testing is being done on Android beta version 2.20.139. This means that a shortcut is being tested on this messaging app, which will take the user directly to the messenger room. Facebook recently announced that the company is rolling out its new Messenger Rooms feature in some countries, so that users can use group calling with up to 50 people simultaneously. Facebook also announced that Messenger Rooms will be offered alongside Instagram and Facebook Portal. However, no information has been revealed yet regarding its availability.

However, this feature of the beta version is not working right now, which means that work is still going on on this feature and WhatsApp wants to make it completely bug free. The report states that this shortcut will be available on chat/group share sheets. Currently, information about this feature is presented when the user selects the ‘Room’ option.

This added Rooms messenger is protected by encryption and privacy controls, although the video call is not end-to-end encrypted. The publication also informed that this room shortcut will be added to the call tab.

To remind, Facebook had recently announced that the company is rolling out its Messenger Rooms in some countries. Facebook also announced that after this feature, users will be able to add more than 50 people in video calls.
