Facebook is testing a new ‘Short Videos’ feature within its app in view of the TikTok ban in India and the proposed ban in the US. This new feature appears in the center of the News Feed, which works exactly like the popular TikTok app in a swipe-up manner. Let us tell you, recently Facebook has introduced the Reels feature on its Instagram platform to compensate for the lack of TikTok and now it seems that a similar feature will be introduced for Facebook also. We are not sure about the scope of testing this feature, but we were able to get this feature in the latest version of Facebook on Android devices.

By social media guru Matt Navarra Tweet It was first informed that the social media company is testing this new ‘Short Videos’ feature in its Facebook app. This new feature is similar to TikTok’s video format, which includes swipe-up scroll etc. to watch the next video. We found this feature in our Facebook app, it is possible that this feature has been made available to a large number of Indian users. But it is not possible for this feature to reach every Indian user right now, Facebook is testing it among users before rolling it out commercially.

Commenting on this, a Facebook spokesperson said in an email, (translated) “We are always testing new creative tools to learn more about how people want to express themselves. “Short form videos are extremely popular and we’re giving people new ways to connect, create and share on Facebook with this experience.”

Let us tell you, the interface of this short video section of Facebook is quite similar to TikTok, in which comments and likes are present on the bottom right side. Apart from this, the Create option has been given a place at the top, on which when clicked for the first time, the description written along with the new Facebook camera appears “Create and share short videos, and explore new ways to express yourself.” In the new short video feature, users can add music to their recorded clips. Apart from this, you will also get the option of pause and record like TikTok in this new feature. After creating the video, you can share it in-app. After the video is posted, you can watch it in the ‘Short Videos’ section of your Facebook.

It is worth noting that after TikTok was banned in India, Facebook had recently introduced the option of Instagram Reels, which provides a similar experience to TikTok in use. At the same time, now Facebook has introduced its new ‘Short Videos’ feature, after which you can enjoy this feature on Facebook also.
