Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘Gulabo Sitabo’ will be released on Amazon Prime Video

Lockdown has been in force across the country for several weeks to prevent the spread of the Corona virus epidemic, which is likely to continue in the coming weeks. But now it seems that filmmakers cannot wait any longer, hence they have started resorting to OTT platforms due to the closure of theatres. After South films, now Bollywood filmmakers have also announced to release their films through online streaming platforms. The first step forward in this direction has been taken by the film ‘Gulabo-Sitabo’, which will no longer be released in theaters but will be released on Amazon Prime Video. This film will be released on Amazon Prime on June 12. Bollywood superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana are playing important roles in this film. Meanwhile, Sujit Sarkar is directing this film.

Announcing this, a poster was shared, in which Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana are seen in their respective roles. The story of the film is based on two puppeteers from Lucknow, Gulabo (Amitabh Bachchan) and Sitabo (Ayushmann Khurrana).

The logo of Sony channel Sony Max is also visible in this shared poster, from which it can be guessed that the film ‘Gulabo-Sitabo’ can also be released on Pay TV after the Amazon premiere on June 12. However, Sony India has not given any official statement in this regard.

It is noteworthy that apart from Bollywood, South Indian films are also being released on the OTT platform. Jyothika starrer court drama Tamil film ‘Ponmagal Vandhal’ was to be released in theaters on March 27, but it was continuously getting postponed after the lockdown. After which the makers have now planned to release this film on Amazon Prime Video. It is reported that it will be released on Amazon Prime Video at the end of May. Apart from this, Bollywood’s Khiladi Akshay Kumar’s upcoming horror-comedy ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ is also going to be released in theaters on May 22. But in between there was news that the producers of the film are talking to OTT platform companies for the release of this film. However, in this regard, ‘Gulabo-Sitabo’ will be the first Bollywood film to be released directly on Amazon Prime Video.
