Due to a setting glitch on the popular social site Facebook, the settings of about 15 million users have been ‘tampered with’. Due to this problem, even if a user’s post has not been made public, it is still becoming ‘public’. Let us tell you that this news has come just after the privacy issues of Facebook, in which it was revealed that the personal data of the users was tampered with. Facebook Chief Privacy Officer Erin Egan said in a statement, “The company has investigated a bug that causes posts to automatically switch from private to public.” That is, if you post a post on Facebook with the ‘Private’ setting. If you post a post with a username, it will automatically be made ‘public’ and everyone will be able to see it.

Facebook said that the victim user had to face this from May 18 to May 27. Due to this, users complained about their posts being visible publicly instead of ‘Specific Users’ and ‘Only Friends’. Facebook says it fixed the issue on May 22, but it is not able to change this setting for all users’ posts. Therefore, the company has sent a notification to the users warning them to change the ‘Public’ option.

“Starting today, we’re asking everyone through notifications to check their posts to make sure their settings haven’t been tampered with,” Egan said. Apparently this bug has not caused any further harm to people. We apologize for this mistake.

New feature is coming

Talking about the new feature, dating can also be enjoyed on Facebook soon. The company’s Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg had unveiled this in Facebook’s annual conference. He had said that the world’s largest social site is taking steps to help people in romantic relationships.

Zuckerberg, while addressing software developers at Facebook’s annual conference, had said that the dating service will connect more and more people. He has said, “At present 20 crore people have declared themselves ‘single’ on Facebook, due to which it seems that something should be done.”
